Hi, I’m Dr. Jenn!

I am a licensed clinical psychologist, but I am also a mother, wife, daughter, friend. And like all other people who have various types of relationships and roles, as much as I love these roles, I have experienced challenges in all of them. As a working mother with two young children, I know first-hand how overwhelming and all-consuming this stage of life can be.

Being a mother and professional has also taught me the power of humor and resilience. Sometimes in the midst of all the chaos, the only thing you can do is laugh (or cry, or both!). As a psychologist, I have seen time and time again how resilient, strong, and capable people can be, even in the face of immense stress and uncertainty. And that is why I absolutely love what I do.

From the moment I took my first psychology course in high school, I knew that I wanted to be a psychologist. I majored in Psychology at UC Santa Cruz, and from there I got my doctorate in psychology (Psy.D.) from California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant International University).  I also have a certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International (PSI).

Throughout my training, I have worked in a variety of settings and with a wide range of populations. My training includes working with the 0-5 population, children and families, individuals, and couples. I have experience working with clients on relationship issues, anxiety, mood disorders (including depression), working with individuals with developmental disabilities, parenting issues, clients in immediate crisis, as well as individuals affected by a history of sexual abuse and trauma.

My passion lies in working with young adults and adults with a variety of different presenting problems. In my current practice, most of my clients are looking to improve their relationships, working through anxiety or depression, looking to gain more insight into themselves, or are dealing with major transitions in their lives. I enjoy helping college, graduate students, and young professionals navigate the stressors associated with school or work, in addition to personal challenges such as relationships, life transitions, anxiety, identity development, and self-esteem. Mental health for parents is also incredibly important to me, and near and dear to my heart. I am especially passionate about helping new mothers to improve their sense of well-being, and helping new parents to navigate the difficult journey into parenthood (including postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety). In addition to therapy, other services I provide include teaching at the graduate level, consultation services, and supervision.

“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful parts of us.”
