Perinatal Mental Health

Whether you have decided to start a family, are dealing with fertility challenges, are pregnant, or are struggling with parenting, this chapter of your life can be a time of joy and fulfillment, but can also be overwhelming and stressful. It is common to experience a wide range of emotions during this time, from excitement and happiness, to anxiety and exhaustion.  These challenges can additionally impact the non-birthing partner. Often it is also a time of rediscovering your identity, and trying to remember who you were before this period of your life began.

Therapy can be an invaluable tool to help you navigate this stage of your life.  It can provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore your feelings, address any concerns or challenges you may be facing, and develop coping skills to manage stress and anxiety. Therapy provides a safe, nonjudgmental space to identify your unique needs and goals, help you feel more confident and empowered, help to strengthen coping skills during times of stress and anxiety, as well as learning about the importance of self-care and ways to apply it to your busy life in a way that would be meaningful for you. In addition, we can address any concerns around PMADs (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders) such as postpartum anxiety and postpartum depression.

You don’t have to struggle in silence or pretend that everything is okay when it isn’t. Knowing when to reach out for help and support is courageous and takes strength. And you deserve it.
